How to Convert Uppercase to Lowercase in Microsoft Word document

To convert uppercase to lowercase in a Microsoft Word document, follow the steps below.

Method 1: Using the Change Case icon

Change case in Microsoft Word allows you to effortlessly change Uppercase letters to Lowercase letters or Lowercase letters to Uppercase letters.

Step 1: Open the Word document that has to be converted from Uppercase to Lowercase.

Step 2: Select or highlight the text.

Step 3: To access the Change Case drop-down menu, go to the Home tab on the Ribbon and click on the Change Case symbol in the Font section.



Step 4: A change case drop-down menu with the following options will display. -

Sentence case: The initial letter of each sentence is capitalised.

Lowercase: It is used to convert uppercase text to lowercase text.

Uppercase: It is used to convert lowercase text to uppercase text.

Capitalise the First Letter of Each Word: It is used to capitalise the first letter of each word.

Toggle case: It is used to switch between two perspectives, such as Capitalise Each Word and Capitalise Each Word.

You'll notice that your uppercase has been turned to lowercase.




Once you have done, you can see that your uppercase converted to the lowercase.

Method: 2 Using the Keyboard shortcut key (Shift + F3)

You may also use keyboard shortcut keys in Microsoft Word to convert uppercase to lowercase -

Step 1: Open the word document.

Step 2: Highlight or select the text to be changed from uppercase to lowercase.




Step 3: Press and hold Shift + F3 keys from the keyboard.

Step 4: When you let go of the keys, you'll notice that Uppercase gets transformed to Lowercase, as shown in the screenshot below.



Method 3: Using the Font Dialog box

To convert Lowercase to Uppercase using the Font Dialogue box, follow the steps below - 


1. Select the text to be converted from lowercase to uppercase.

2. Go to the Home tab on the Ribbon and click on the Font dialog box in the Font section.




3. On the screen, a Font dialogue box will display. Click the All-capitals checkbox, then the OK button at the bottom of the Font dialogue box.




As you can see, all lowercase letters have been transformed to uppercase.
