How to Make a Word Table of Contents
A table of contents
is used to quickly and easily discover desirable content in a long text.
Method 1: Using the References tab
To construct a
table of contents in Word, follow the steps below -
Step 1: Open
the new Word Document.
Step 2: Write
some content on it and highlight the heading using Home -> Heading 1.
Step 3: After creating the Table
heading, navigate to References at the top of the screen and pick Table of
Contents.
Step 4: A table content list shows on
the screen. Choose Table of Contents based on your needs.
The below screenshot shows that the Table of content is added on
the page.
Method 2: Using the Dialog Box 'Tabs'
To
insert the Table of Contents, use the dialogue box tabs as shown below:
Step 1: Create a new word
document.
Step 2: On the Home pane, select the dialog-box
launcher tool from the Paragraph group.
Step 3: Once you click on the dialog box, it pops up
on the screen, in which click on the Tabs.
Step 4: The screen displays the
following window, which shows the keyboard-cursor flashing in the Tap stop
position. Insert the first column in the Table of Contents by typing 0.5 in the
tab stop position, selecting the Right radio button, and clicking the Set
button.
Step 5: To insert the third column in
the Table of Contents, press the Backspace key to remove any previously written
text in the tab stop position.
Step 6:
Enter 0.7 in the Tab stop position, pick the Left radio button, leave the
Leader field blank, and click the Set button.
Step 7: Repeat step
number 5.
Step 8: Type 5.0 in Tab stop position, select the Right radio button, select 2…. Radio button from
the Leader, click on the Set, and then OK.
Step 9: Begin writing the Table of Contents using
the syntax shown below.
Press the Tab key (column 2). (Column 2), press the Tab key.
(Column 3): Press the tab key. Enter the Enter key.
Example:
Tap
the Tab key. 1. Press the Tab key. This is Microsoft Office Strike Tab Key 1.

Strike Tab 2. Strike Tab 3. Hello and welcome to Word Strike Tab
Key 4! Enter Key Strike
Strike the Tab key three times. Strike Tab Key 6 Strike Enter

Tap the Tab key. 5. Press the Tab key. Make a New Document
