Brief History

 

As Multi-Tool Word, Microsoft Word was first made available in 1983. The world's first graphical writing programme, Bravo, served as the basis for its initial edition.

 

Microsoft changed the name of Multi Tool Word to Microsoft Word before releasing the first IBM PC version of the programme in October 1983.

 

Microsoft ported it to the Macintosh in 1985, however the Macintosh offered a number of significant interface modifications as opposed to its DOS-based cousin.

 

For its Windows operating systems, Microsoft introduced a new version of Word in 1989.It was the Microsoft Word who introduced the concept of WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get), which allowed for the creation and presentation of bold and italic text.

 

Microsoft created the Microsoft Word for Windows 1.1a source code in 2014.
